Kerry Morrison
Founder and Project Director
Kerry Morrison responded to this calling in 2019, after spending 22 years leading the business improvement district (BID) in Hollywood, during a time of unparalleled community revitalization and economic growth. As a 2016-17 Stanton Fellow, searching for a better way to help the most severely mentally ill people left to languish on our streets, Kerry found her way to Trieste, Italy, a city recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a model system for providing community-based mental healthcare. Working in collaboration with county officials, she helped to build a coalition in Los Angeles County committed to bringing these global best practices to a mental health pilot in Hollywood which, in May 2019, was granted funding by the state’s Mental Health Services Act Innovations fund.
Kerry continues to engage with the county’s effort to roll-out this pilot, now referred to as Hollywood 2.0. She also is active in efforts to practice “radical hospitality” in various settings to demonstrate the transformation in human relationships associated therewith, in supportive housing, in board & care homes and in L.A. County jail.
Kerry is active in homeless policy and nonprofit work in Los Angeles. She has served as a mayoral appointee to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) and currently serves on the HHH Citizen’s Oversight Committee. Kerry holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Santa Clara University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from USC. She is a graduate of Coro Southern California’s Fellowship Program in Public Affairs. She writes about the Trieste model on her website accoglienza.us and hosts a podcast, Heart Forward Conversations from the Heart.
Kerry has visited Trieste five times, and was privileged to live there during the month of March 2019, where she was graciously allowed to function as an embedded observer of their remarkable culture and practices.

Naomi Teragawa Wainwright
Program Coordinator
Naomi is a mental health advocate from the California Central Valley. While encountering the housing crisis and economic inequality over the last decade, Naomi found herself wanting to directly support those struggling with the consequences of systemic failings. She joined Heart Forward in 2024, inspired by its vision for the community-integrated recovery of those living with serious mental illness. Naomi is pursuing a Master of Social Work and certification as a massage therapist.
